Who Should Attend

This workshop is designed for team leaders, managers, supervisors, and individual contributors working in fully remote or hybrid environments who want to improve daily collaboration and set clear, sustainable working norms.

Course Overview

Transitioning from traditional office settings to distributed environments requires shifting focus from physical presence to clear communication and measurable outcomes. Working with Remote Teams is a practical, interactive 1-day workshop designed to equip employees and leaders with simple routines for keeping work moving forward. Participants evaluate how to establish operating norms that build trust and reduce micromanagement across distributed units.

Throughout the day, participants put key communication frameworks into practice. The curriculum introduces the 3-C Rule for actionable written messaging and the 3-P Framework for rapid, structured check-ins. Through real-world exercises and facilitated group work, attendees draft a custom Remote Team Working Agreement that sets clear standards for communication channels, meeting boundaries, and team accountability.

Course Description

  • Module 1: The Remote Mindset and Outcome-Based Trust
Shift focus on tracking active hours to managing deliverables and key milestones. Build clear expectations that establish psychological safety and reduce micromanagement.
  • Module 2: Clear Asynchronous Communication (The 3-C Rule)
Eliminate lengthy message threads. Apply the 3-C Rule (Clear, Concise, Action-Oriented) to select the right channel for each message and establish realistic response times.
  • Module 3: Structured Alignment and Check-Ins (The 3-P Framework)
Implement lightweight check-in routines using the 3-P Framework (Progress, Priorities, Problems). Keep quick check-ins brief so team members can spot problems before they turn into bigger issues, all without filling up everyone’s day with unnecessary meetings.
  • Module 4: Managing Availability and Meeting Boundaries
Establish clear rules to protect core work hours while staying reachable. Differentiate urgent requests from routine updates and clean up meeting schedules.
  • Module 5: Hybrid Team Dynamics and Collaboration
Address operational challenges unique to hybrid and multi-time-zone teams. Maintain fair access to information, improve peer feedback, and onboard new remote hires smoothly.
  • Module 6: Working Session: Team Agreement Creation
Synthesize workshop concepts into a practical Remote Team Working Agreement. Outline explicit team rules for communication, availability windows, check-in schedules, and issue resolution.

Participant Deliverables

  • A custom Remote Team Working Agreement ready for immediate implementation

  • Clear channel guidelines for urgent versus routine updates

  • A repeatable 3-P check-in structure to keep priorities clear and address blockers

  • Actionable rules for protecting focus time and reducing unnecessary meetings
